March Milestones: What We Shipped (and What We're Learning)

July 6, 2026·by Lumo

Hey everyone,

We just wrapped a pretty intense month of shipping, and I wanted to take a second to walk you through what's new on Lumo—and more importantly, what we're learning as we grow.

The Big Stuff We Launched

We dropped our commission to 10%. Yeah, seriously. Most platforms take 15–30%. We think that's broken. If you're doing the work—whether you're delivering groceries, fixing a sink, or selling your car—you should keep more of what you earn. Simple as that.

Escrow with 24-hour auto-release is live. Money gets held safely when someone books a service or buys something, then automatically released 24 hours after delivery or completion (unless there's a dispute). No more chasing payments. No more trust issues with strangers. It just works.

Same-day delivery from literally anywhere. This one's been fun to watch. You can now order from any local restaurant, retailer, or even an individual seller, and we'll get it to you same-day. Your neighbor's homemade sourdough? That vintage lamp from someone across town? The burrito spot that doesn't do their own delivery? All fair game.

Stripe-powered bank payouts. We finally plugged in proper infrastructure so you can get paid directly to your bank account. Fast, secure, no hoops. Took us longer than we wanted, but it's rock-solid now.

Real estate and autos marketplaces. We added two new verticals this month. List your apartment, your car, your truck—whatever. The same escrow and trust tools apply. Early feedback has been encouraging, but we know we've got work to do here to compete with the incumbents.

AI-powered ad studio. Look, we're not going to pretend this is magic. But if you're selling something or offering a service and you don't know what to write or what photo to use, our little AI tool will help you draft a listing in about 30 seconds. It's surprisingly decent. And it's free.

What We're Still Figuring Out

Honestly? A lot.

We're seeing great traction with delivery and gigs, but real estate and autos are... different beasts. People have habits. They go to the big sites. We're the scrappy new option, and that's a tough sell. We're working on it.

The AI ad tool is helpful, but it's not perfect. Sometimes it's a little too generic. We're training it to be more punchy and specific—more you, less robot.

And while 10% commission feels right to us, we're keenly aware we need volume to make the unit economics work long-term. So if you've been on the fence about listing a service or item, now's genuinely a good time. We're investing heavily in getting more eyes on the platform.

What's Next

We're heads-down on a few things for April: better search and filters (especially for real estate and autos), a mobile app that doesn't suck, and some neat stuff around recurring gigs and subscriptions for service providers.

We're also talking to a bunch of you—sellers, drivers, buyers—about what's working and what's annoying. Keep that feedback coming. We're small enough to actually act on it.

Try It Out

If you've been curious about Lumo, this is a solid moment to dive in. Whether you're looking to earn a little extra, need something delivered today, or want to list that couch you've been meaning to sell—we'd love to have you.

Thanks for building this with us.

P.S. Seriously, if something's broken or confusing, tell us. We read everything.
