What We Shipped This Month (And What Almost Broke)

Hey everyone,
February was one of those months where the dev team basically lived in Slack, our QA lead threatened to quit twice (she didn't), and we pushed more code than I'm comfortable admitting. But we got some stuff out the door that I'm genuinely excited about.
We Cut Our Commission to 10%
Let's start with the big one. We dropped our platform fee to 10% across the board. No tiers, no "promotional rates," no asterisks leading to a wall of fine print. Just 10%.
Why? Because 20-30% commissions are honestly ridiculous when you're the one doing the work. We're not trying to subsidize massive ad budgets or please venture capitalists anymore. We just want to build something that works for people actually using it—sellers, drivers, service providers.
Escrow That Doesn't Require a Law Degree
Payment disputes are the worst. So we built escrow directly into the platform. When someone books a service or buys something, the money sits safely until the job's done. The seller gets automatically paid 24 hours after delivery or completion unless there's an issue.
It's not revolutionary, but it works. And after three weeks live, dispute rates dropped 40%. Turns out people just want to know their money's safe and they'll actually get paid.
Same-Day Delivery from... Anyone
This one's my favorite. You can now request same-day delivery from any restaurant, retailer, or even individual sellers on Lumo. Forgot your sister's birthday? Get something from that local boutique delivered in three hours. Craving tacos from the spot across town that doesn't do delivery? We've got you.
It's not limited to partner merchants. If it exists locally and someone's willing to grab it, it can show up at your door today. The network effect here has been wild—our driver community basically turned into personal shoppers overnight.
Instant Bank Payouts via Stripe
No more waiting 5-7 business days to see your money. We integrated Stripe's instant payout feature, so earnings hit your bank account in minutes, not days. It costs a small fee (that's on Stripe's end, not us), but for anyone who needs cash flow immediately, it's been a game-changer.
Real Estate and Autos Are Here
We quietly launched two new marketplace categories: real estate and autos. List your apartment, your car, your truck—whatever. No middleman taking 3-6% when you're already dealing with massive transactions.
It's early, and honestly, we're still figuring out the nuances (turns out car sales have a lot of regulatory quirks—who knew?). But the core listing and escrow infrastructure is live, and we're seeing steady growth week over week.
AI Ad Studio (Because We Had To)
Look, I'll be honest—we built an AI-powered ad creator because everyone kept asking for better listing photos and descriptions. You upload a photo, tell it what you're selling or offering, and it generates pretty decent ad copy and even suggests better crop/lighting.
Is it perfect? No. Does it help someone list a couch in 90 seconds instead of 15 minutes? Yes. And that matters.
What's Next
We're not done. There's a mobile app redesign coming (the current one is... functional), more seller analytics, and we're testing peer-to-peer lending for bigger marketplace purchases.
But mostly, we're listening. If something's broken or clunky, tell us. We're small enough to actually fix it.
Thanks for building this with us. If you haven't tried Lumo yet or it's been a minute, give it another look. We're getting better every week.
Check out what's new on Lumo and let us know what we should build next.
