What We Shipped This Month (And What It Means for You)

Hey everyone,
We've been heads-down shipping features this month, and I wanted to take a minute to share what's new on Lumo and, more importantly, why we built what we built.
We Dropped Our Commission to 10%
Let's start with the big one: we cut our platform commission down to 10%. That's it. No surge pricing, no hidden "service fees," no creative accounting.
Why? Because we've watched other platforms inch their take rates up to 25%, 30%, even 35% in some categories. That's not sustainable for the people doing the actual work. If you're delivering groceries in the rain or running errands for someone across town, you should keep more of what you earn. Period.
Escrow That Actually Works
We rolled out escrow payments with 24-hour auto-release this month. Here's how it works: when someone books a service, the money gets held safely. Once the job's done, funds automatically release to you within 24 hours—no chasing down payments, no awkward follow-ups.
For buyers, it means you're protected until the work is complete. For sellers, it means you're guaranteed to get paid. It's trust, built into the transaction.
Same-Day Delivery from Anyone
This one's been exciting to watch take off. You can now offer same-day delivery from literally any retailer, restaurant, or even your own inventory. Forgot to order groceries? Need something from that boutique across town? Someone on Lumo can grab it and have it to you in hours.
We're seeing people get creative here—everything from late-night taco runs to picking up prescription refills to sourcing hard-to-find items. It's basically Lumo members becoming your personal shopper for whatever you need, whenever you need it.
Stripe Payouts (Finally)
Okay, this should have shipped sooner, but we integrated Stripe for direct bank payouts. Your earnings hit your bank account faster and more reliably. No more payment limbo.
Real Estate & Autos Marketplaces
We quietly launched dedicated sections for real estate and auto listings. These are big purchases, and we wanted to create spaces where local buyers and sellers could connect directly—no middleman taking a cut of your home sale or car deal.
It's still early, but we're seeing encouraging traction. Turns out people like the idea of listing their car or apartment on a platform that isn't trying to nickel-and-dime them.
AI Ad Studio (Our Favorite New Toy)
This one's a bit experimental, but we built an AI-powered ad studio that helps you create listings and promotional content in seconds. Describe what you're offering, and it generates copy, suggests images, even helps with pricing strategy.
We built it because creating a great listing shouldn't require a marketing degree. Early feedback has been really positive—people are launching services faster and getting better results.
What's Next
Honestly? We're just getting started. Our roadmap is packed, and we're listening closely to what you're asking for. Better search, more category filters, mobile app improvements, expanded service areas—it's all coming.
We're not trying to be everything to everyone overnight. We're just trying to build something useful, fair, and genuinely helpful for people trying to earn, buy, or sell locally.
Thanks for being part of this with us.

P.S. If you've been thinking about listing a service, selling something, or just seeing what's available in your area, now's a pretty good time to check out Lumo. We'd love to have you.
