What We Shipped This Month (And What Kept Us Up at Night)

August 12, 2026·by Lumo

Hey, it's been a busy month.

We don't usually do these "here's what we built" posts, but honestly? We shipped more in January than we did in the previous quarter combined, and it feels worth sharing—not because we want a pat on the back, but because we're genuinely curious if these things matter to you.

We Cut Our Commission to 10%

Let's start with the big one. We dropped our take rate to 10% across the board. That's it. No hidden fees, no "service charges," no surprise deductions at payout time.

Why? Because we kept hearing the same thing: other platforms are eating 20-30% of what people earn, and it's just... not sustainable. We're not claiming to be saints here—we still need to keep the lights on—but 10% feels like the right balance between building a real business and not squeezing the people who actually do the work.

Escrow That Doesn't Hold Your Money Hostage

We built an escrow system with 24-hour auto-release. When someone books a delivery or hires you for a gig, the money sits in escrow. Once the job's done, it auto-releases after 24 hours unless there's a dispute.

No waiting two weeks. No mysterious "pending" status. No needing to beg support to release funds you already earned. It's your money—you should get it quickly.

Same-Day Delivery from Anyone

This one's our favorite. You can now offer same-day delivery from literally anywhere: restaurants, retailers, or just your own stuff. Selling a couch? Offer delivery. Running a bakery? Get orders out the same day. Liquidating your sneaker collection? Bundle it with drop-off.

We're not trying to compete with DoorDash or Instacart. We're trying to give everyone the tools those platforms reserve for corporate partners.

Stripe Payouts (Finally)

You can now cash out directly to your bank via Stripe. We should've done this months ago. It's fast, it's reliable, and you're not stuck waiting for checks or dealing with sketchy third-party processors.

Real Estate + Autos Are Live

We soft-launched dedicated marketplaces for real estate and auto listings. It's early—like, really early—but the scaffolding is there. List a car, post a rental, connect with buyers. No algorithm hiding your listing unless you pay to boost it.

We're not sure if these will take off, but we're tired of seeing Facebook Marketplace be the only game in town for peer-to-peer big-ticket stuff.

AI Ad Studio (Because Writing Is Hard)

Look, we get it. Not everyone loves writing product descriptions or designing ads. So we built an AI-powered ad studio that generates listing copy, images, and promo graphics in a few clicks.

Is it perfect? No. Will it write like Hemingway? Also no. But it'll save you 20 minutes and help you get your listing live faster. We'll keep improving it.

What We're Still Figuring Out

Honestly? Lots. Dispute resolution still needs work. Our search could be smarter. Mobile performance has hiccups. We're a small team, and some days it feels like we're building the plane while flying it.

But we're listening. And we're moving fast.

What's Next

We're doubling down on trust and safety features next month—verified profiles, better reviews, tighter fraud detection. And we're exploring subscription tiers for power users who want lower fees and premium tools.

If you've been on the fence about listing a service, selling something, or offering deliveries in your area, this might be the month to give Lumo a shot. We're not perfect, but we're trying to build something that actually works for people, not just investors.

Check out what's possible on Lumo — or just lurk and see what your neighbors are up to. Either way, thanks for being here.
