What We Shipped This Month (And What We Learned)

July 27, 2026·by Lumo

Hey everyone,

It's been a busy few weeks at Lumo HQ, and I wanted to take a minute to share what we've been working on. No fluff, just the real stuff we shipped and what we're still scratching our heads about.

We Cut Our Commission to 10%

Let's start with the big one. After listening to a lot of feedback—and honestly, just doing the math—we dropped our platform commission to 10%. Most marketplaces take 15-30%. We're not trying to squeeze every dollar out of the people actually doing the work. You list a gig, make a delivery, or sell something? You keep more of what you earn. Simple as that.

Escrow That Actually Works

Payment anxiety is real. Buyers worry sellers will ghost. Sellers worry buyers won't pay. So we built escrow with 24-hour auto-release. Money gets held when someone books your service or buys your item, then automatically releases 24 hours after delivery or completion. If there's a problem, either party can flag it before the timer runs out. It's not perfect, but it's a lot better than crossing your fingers and hoping Venmo works out.

Same-Day Delivery from Anyone

This one's been requested forever. You can now arrange same-day delivery from any retailer, restaurant, or individual. Need someone to grab your prescription, pick up tacos, or deliver that vintage lamp you just bought off someone's porch? It's all on Lumo now. We're basically letting anyone become a courier, and it's working better than we expected. (Though we're still fine-tuning how to handle ice cream orders in July.)

Fast, Easy Payouts via Stripe

We switched to Stripe for bank payouts, which means you can get your money in 1-2 business days instead of waiting a week. No hoops, no weird third-party apps. Just connect your bank account and you're good to go. This was a no-brainer, and honestly, we should've done it sooner.

Real Estate and Autos Are Live

We added two new verticals: real estate and autos. You can now list apartments, houses, cars, motorcycles—anything that usually ends up on five different platforms. We're keeping it simple: flat fee listings, no weird agent games, and the same escrow protection for deposits. It's early days, but we're already seeing some interesting use cases (like someone listing a tiny home on wheels, which was cool).

AI-Powered Ad Studio (Because Why Not?)

Okay, this one's a little experimental. We built an AI-powered ad studio that helps you create listing photos and write descriptions. Take a blurry photo of your couch, and it'll clean it up and write a decent description. It's not magic, but it does save time. We're keeping it free for now while we figure out how useful it actually is.

What We're Still Working On

Honestly? A lot. Our mobile app needs work. Customer support is stretched thin some days. And we're still figuring out the right balance between automated systems and human oversight. We're a small team building something we hope is useful, and we're learning as we go.

If you've got feedback—good, bad, or weird—send it our way. We read everything.

Thanks for being here.

If you haven't tried Lumo yet, now's a pretty good time. We're not perfect, but we're building something different—and we'd love to have you along for the ride.
