What We Shipped This Month (And What's Actually Working)

Another month, another sprint.
We don't usually do these update posts, but honestly, the team has been heads-down shipping for weeks and I wanted to take a minute to show you what we've been building. No fluff, just the stuff that's live on Lumo right now.
We cut our commission to 10%
Let's start with the big one. We dropped our take rate to 10% across the board. Most platforms in our space charge 15-30%. We're not trying to squeeze every dollar out of transactions—we'd rather you stick around and actually use this thing.
The math is simple: lower fees mean you keep more. Whether you're running gig jobs, flipping furniture, or listing your condo, that extra 5-10% adds up fast.
Escrow that doesn't hold your money hostage
We launched proper escrow this month, and here's the thing nobody tells you about escrow: it's only useful if it's fast.
So we built it with a 24-hour auto-release. Buyer gets their delivery or service, payment sits in escrow, and if nobody disputes it within 24 hours, the seller gets paid. Automatically. No waiting around for manual approvals or hoping someone remembers to click a button.
It protects both sides without turning every transaction into a three-day hostage situation.
Same-day delivery from literally anywhere
This one's been fun to watch. You can now get same-day delivery from any retailer, restaurant, or individual seller on Lumo. Not just our partners—anyone.
Want that lamp from someone's garage sale across town? Same-day. Need takeout from that spot that doesn't do delivery? Done. It's not rocket science, but it works, and people are using it way more than we expected.
Stripe payouts (finally)
Okay, this should have shipped sooner, but it's here now. Direct bank payouts through Stripe. Fast, reliable, no weird third-party payment apps. Your money goes straight to your account.
Should this be exciting? No. But after dealing with clunky payout systems on other platforms, we know it matters.
Real estate and autos marketplaces are live
We quietly launched dedicated marketplaces for real estate and autos. List your car, your apartment, your rental property—whatever. Full escrow protection, built-in messaging, the works.
Early feedback has been solid. Turns out people appreciate not having to deal with sketchy Craigslist meetups or paying $50 just to post a listing somewhere else.
AI ad studio (and it's actually useful)
Last thing: we built an AI-powered ad studio. I know, I know—everything has AI now. But hear me out.
You upload a photo of what you're selling or offering, and it generates a proper ad in about 10 seconds. Headline, description, tags, the whole thing. You can edit it, obviously, but the first draft is usually pretty good.
We're not trying to replace you. We're just trying to save you 20 minutes of staring at a blank text box.
What's next?
Honestly? We're going to keep listening and keep shipping. There's a long list of stuff we want to build—better search, more payment options, seller analytics that don't suck.
But for now, this is what we've got. It's live, it's working, and we think it's worth checking out.
If you've been on the fence about listing something or trying a gig on Lumo, maybe now's the time. We're not perfect, but we're getting better every month.
Take a look around Lumo and see what's possible. Whether you're buying, selling, or getting things done, we built this for you.
