What We Shipped This Month (And What's Next)

October 1, 2026·by Lumo

Hey everyone,

We've been heads-down shipping features this month, and I wanted to take a minute to share what's new on Lumo and where we're headed.

We Cut Our Take Rate to 10%

Let's start with the big one: we've dropped our commission to 10% across the board. Whether you're running deliveries, listing your car, or offering freelance services, we're only taking a dime on the dollar. Most platforms charge 15–30%. We think that's too much. You do the work; you should keep more of the money.

This wasn't an easy call financially, but it's the right one. We'd rather grow slower and build trust than extract maximum revenue from day one.

Escrow with 24-Hour Auto-Release

Payment drama sucks. So we built escrow into every transaction. When a buyer pays, funds sit safely in escrow until the job is done. Once the buyer confirms (or 24 hours pass with no dispute), funds auto-release to your bank account via Stripe.

No more chasing payments. No more "I'll Venmo you later." Just clean, automatic payouts that actually work.

Same-Day Delivery from Anyone

This one's been fun to watch take off. You can now request same-day delivery from any retailer, restaurant, or individual seller in your area. Need your prescription picked up? Want tacos from that spot across town but don't want to drive? Someone nearby can grab it and deliver it within hours.

We're basically turning every person with a car and some free time into a hyper-local courier. Early feedback has been great, and we're seeing some creative use cases we didn't even anticipate.

Real Estate and Autos Are Live

We've officially expanded beyond gigs and deliveries. Lumo now has dedicated marketplaces for real estate and autos. List your apartment, sell your car, or browse what's available in your area—all with the same escrow protection and low fees.

These categories are still new, so inventory is light in some cities. But if you've been thinking about selling your car or subletting your place, throw it up on Lumo. You might be surprised.

AI-Powered Ad Studio

Okay, this one's a little experimental, but we're excited about it. We built an AI ad studio that helps sellers create better listings in seconds. Upload a photo of your couch (or your car, or yourself if you're offering a service), answer a couple questions, and the tool generates punchy copy, suggests pricing, and even optimizes your images.

It's not going to replace good judgment, but it's a hell of a lot better than staring at a blank text box. And it's free for all Lumo users.

What's Next

We're not done. Here's what's on the roadmap:

  • In-app messaging with better notifications (because coordinating pickup times via text is annoying)
  • Subscription tiers for power sellers who want lower fees and premium placement
  • Local business partnerships to bring more retailers onto the platform for same-day delivery

We're also listening. If there's a feature you want or something that's broken, let us know. We're small enough to actually respond and fix things quickly.

Try It Out

If you haven't checked out Lumo in a while, now's a good time. Lower fees, better tools, more categories. Whether you're buying, selling, or delivering, we're trying to make local commerce work the way it should: fast, fair, and without unnecessary middlemen taking a huge cut.

Appreciate you being here.

P.S. If you've been thinking about listing something or offering a service, give Lumo a shot. It takes about two minutes to get started.
