What We Shipped This Month (And What's Still Broken)

July 1, 2026·by Lumo

Hey everyone,

We pushed a bunch of updates to Lumo this month, and I wanted to walk you through what's new—and be real about what still needs work.

The Big Ones

We cut our commission to 10%. Flat. Whether you're delivering tacos, building websites, or selling a couch, we take 10%. That's it. Most platforms hover around 15-30%, and honestly, we think that's too much. We're betting that lower fees mean more transactions, which means a healthier marketplace for everyone. Time will tell if we're right, but we're committed to this.

Escrow with 24-hour auto-release is live. This one took longer than we wanted, but it's finally here. When you buy something or hire someone on Lumo, payment sits in escrow until the job's done. If both parties are happy, funds release automatically after 24 hours. If there's an issue, either side can flag it and we step in. It's not perfect yet—we're still tuning the dispute flow—but it's a massive step up from "hope the other person is legit."

Same-day delivery from literally anyone. You can now get same-day delivery from any retailer, restaurant, or individual seller in your area. Need groceries from that corner store that doesn't deliver? Want your cousin's famous empanadas dropped off by dinner? Someone on Lumo will grab it and bring it to your door. We're essentially letting anyone become a courier, and the early results are wild in the best way.

The Money Stuff

Stripe bank payouts are now instant (well, almost). If you're earning on Lumo, you can cash out to your bank account through Stripe. Most people see funds in 1-2 business days. It's not same-day yet, but we're working on it. We know waiting for money you've already earned sucks.

New Marketplaces

Real estate and autos are officially on the platform. You can now list homes, apartments, cars, motorcycles—anything with a title or lease. These are huge categories, and we're learning fast. The listing flow is basic right now (we know), but people are already posting and we're seeing real interest. Expect major improvements here over the next quarter.

The Weird One That Might Be Cool

AI-powered ad studio (beta). Look, I was skeptical. But our designer built this tool that lets you generate ads for your Lumo listings using AI—images, copy, the whole thing. You describe what you're selling or offering, and it spits out a few options. Some are garbage. Some are... surprisingly good? It's free to use, deeply imperfect, and we're curious to see if anyone actually finds it useful. Try it. Roast it. Tell us what's broken.

What We're Fixing Next

The mobile app still lags on older Android devices. Search needs to be smarter (we know you can't find what you're looking for half the time). And our customer support response time is hovering around 6 hours when it should be under 2.

We're on it.

One Last Thing

If you've listed something, delivered something, or hired someone on Lumo this month—thank you. Every transaction helps us figure out what works and what doesn't. Keep the feedback coming. We read every message, even the mean ones (especially the mean ones).

If you haven't checked out Lumo yet, now's a pretty good time. We're not perfect, but we're shipping fast and keeping fees low.

See you in the app.

—The Lumo Team

P.S. Check out what's new on Lumo and let us know what we should build next.
