Cape Town: Your Skills Are Worth More Than You're Being Paid
The Job Search Shouldn't Be This Hard
If you've been looking for work in Cape Town lately, you already know how tough it is out there. You send out applications, hear nothing back, or get offered wages that barely cover transport and groceries. Meanwhile, you have real skills—you can drive across the city, you know how to move heavy furniture without damaging it, you can assemble an entire flatpack wardrobe in an afternoon. Those skills have value. It's time someone paid you properly for them.
Lumo is a marketplace connecting Cape Town residents who need help with independent contractors who can do the work. You choose the jobs, set your own hours, and keep 90% of what you earn. No suits, no CV required, no waiting weeks for a callback. You get paid the same day.
Three Ways to Start Earning in Cape Town
Lumo is currently looking for 300 contractors across Cape Town, and here's the kind of work available:
- Delivery: Move food, groceries, and packages across the city by car, bike, or scooter. You decide which deliveries to accept and when you're available. Perfect if you know the roads and want flexible hours.
- Moving help: Loading trucks, carrying furniture, helping with small moves. Ideal if you're strong, reliable, and don't mind a physical job that pays well.
- Furniture assembly: Putting together beds, desks, shelves, and flat-pack furniture. Great for detail-oriented people who can follow instructions and use basic tools.
You're not locked into one type. Accept the jobs that suit you.
You Keep What You Earn (and There's a Loyalty Bonus)
You keep 90% of every job. Lumo takes a small cut to run the platform—that's it. And when you complete your first 100 jobs, you'll earn a 1,643 ZAR (about $100 USD) loyalty bonus. That's on top of what you've already made.
No one's pretending Cape Town's job market is easy right now. But you already have what it takes to earn. Stop waiting for someone else to see your worth.
