Los Angeles: Your Skills Are Worth More Than You're Being Paid
The Job Search in Los Angeles Is Exhausting
If you've been looking for work around Hollywood, DTLA, Silver Lake, Venice, or Koreatown, you already know how tough it is out there right now. Applications disappear into the void. Interviews lead nowhere. And too many jobs that are hiring want to underpay you for skills you've spent years building.
Here's what we know: you can already do valuable work. Maybe you've been driving around LA for years and know the best routes from Koreatown to the Westside. Maybe you've fixed things around your own place, or helped family and friends get their devices working. Those aren't just favors—they're real skills, and they're worth real money.
Three Ways to Start Earning on Lumo
Lumo is a marketplace where LA residents post local jobs, and you choose which ones to accept. You set your own hours, work as much or as little as you want, and keep 90% of what you earn. Here's the kind of work available:
- Delivery: Move food, groceries, and packages across Los Angeles by car, bike, or scooter. Perfect if you know the neighborhoods and want flexible hours between other commitments.
- Handyman repairs: Mount TVs, fix doors, patch walls, and handle small repairs for people who need a hand. Great for anyone who's handy and likes solving practical problems.
- Tech help: Set up Wi-Fi, smart TVs, printers, and phones for neighbors who just want their devices to work. Ideal if you're the person friends call when something won't connect.
You're not locked into one type—accept the jobs that make sense for your schedule and skills.
